In the US, an Ohio public school district has confirmed it has resolved payroll mixups that led to more than two dozen employees missing their first paycheques of the new school year, Yahoo reports.
The payroll issues at Dayton Public Schools (DPS) arose after a relocation and a change in HR leadership.
Speaking to News Center 7, Dayton's superintendent reportedly explained how the payroll problems arose and the solutions in place to ensure they don’t arise again.
David Lawrence - the DPS Superintendent - said, "That impacted about 28 people, if I round up, let's just say 30, and that's a big deal."
The missed paycheques were the sole topic of an emergency Dayton School Board meeting on August 21.
"We worked late into the night after that emergency meeting: the Treasurer's team, the HR team, IT, information technology, and safety and security was there, and I was there," Mr Lawrence said.
The district confirmed that around 10 people picked up their cheques on August 22.
"And then Monday, the rest of the employees came to pick their cheques up. So we take that seriously," he added.
According to Mr Lawrence, the issues stemmed from three things: mix-ups after movement, where staff switched buildings within the district but didn't get moved to that building's payroll; a transition with an incoming HR director; and documentation.
The next payday for DPS employees is September 5. Mr Lawrence reportedly stated that he is confident the district has fixed the payroll issues and that the next payday will go smoothly.
