In the US, Goldman Sachs has forecast that AI could replace 15 million jobs within ten years, with early effects already being seen in tech, consulting, and design, Business Insider reports.

Joseph Briggs - global economics team leader at Goldman Sachs Research - discussed the very real prospect of AI job displacement on a recent episode of the bank's "Exchanges" podcast.

Mr Briggs reportedly stated that he expects about 9 per cent of the US workforce to be displaced as AI is adopted across the economy.

Mr Briggs said, "Nine per cent of workers being displaced by AI would correspond to 15 million workers."

He compared the scale of the shift to the late '90s tech-driven upheaval and the early 2000s, adding that impacted workers would have to leave their current positions and find new jobs.
