In the UK, the Royal Mail has announced plans to cut 2,500 employees by the end of 2027, HR Magazine reports.
The workforce reduction will be achieved through voluntary redundancies and people choosing to leave the company. There will be no compulsory redundancies.
Speaking to The Guardian, Royal Mail representatives said the cuts will be achieved through “natural attrition” and a voluntary exit programme. They reportedly amount to less than 2 per cent of Royal Mail’s workforce of more than 131,000.
The Scottish government is also offering senior civil servants payouts under a voluntary exit scheme, according to reporting from The Herald. Senior officials and civil servants earning £62,111 or more will be offered one month’s pay for each year of service up to a maximum of 21 months.
Individuals already at pensionable age will reportedly have the payout capped at six months’ salary.
