In the UK, the historic professional services firm Spain Brothers is the latest addition to the growing advisory group Burgess Hodgson, Consultancy.uk reports.
With this new acquisition, Burgess Hodgson is set to expand its offering across the South East of England.
Spain Brothers was founded in 1880 and was reportedly the 11th firm to be registered with the ICAEW. The Canterbury-based accounting and consulting practice has served businesses and individuals across Kent for nearly 150 years.
It delivers bookkeeping, accounting, tax, payroll and audit services, and states that it has built multi-generational client relationships rooted in personal, expert service.
The firm will now become part of the Burgess Hodgson Group, uniting two practices with long-term roots in Kent and a shared commitment to long-term client relationships. Burgess Hodgson has been in business since 1938.
Paul Flood - partner at Spain Brothers - said, “Joining Burgess Hodgson represents an exciting next chapter for our business. From the outset, it was clear that both firms share the same values, putting people first, delivering high-quality advice and building relationships that last for decades. Our clients will continue to receive the same personal service from the same trusted team, while benefiting from access to significantly broader technical expertise and specialist advisory services. We are excited about what this creates for our people and our clients alike.”
Richard Stewart - chief executive of Burgess Hodgson - said, “Spain Brothers is exactly the kind of firm we want to welcome into the Burgess Hodgson Group, and we have a long-standing mutual respect. It has served the Kent business community for generations, has an outstanding reputation and, most importantly, shares our belief that great client relationships are built on trust, expertise and personal service. This is another important milestone in our growth journey. By bringing together our complementary strengths, we are creating an even broader advisory business while preserving everything clients value about both firms.”
