[UK] AI optimism increasing among CFOs

In the UK, new research has revealed that chief financial officers (CFOs) are increasingly optimistic about investment in digital technology and AI's productivity-enhancing powers.

Deloitte released its latest CFO Survey on July 20. It shows CFO expressing increasing optimism about AI’s potential to improve their own businesses' performance. 

Nearly three-quarters of respondents reported an improvement in optimism on AI over the last 12 months. According to Deloitte, this is the highest reading since it began asking the question in 2024.

An overwhelming majority of respondents stated that investment in digital technology and assets by UK businesses will rise over the next five years, while nearly three-quarters reportedly expect an improvement in productivity and business performance over the same period. 

In addition, a significant proportion of respondents expect productivity gains over the coming 12 months.
