[Spain] Airbus workers continue strike action while awaiting pay agreement

In Spain, Airbus plant workers remain on indefinite strike while awaiting the resumption of negotiations. The move follows the company's management requesting the unions' demands in writing and presenting an offer which includes an inflation-linked pay rise and the reinstatement of deductions for temporary disability, Aviachi Online reports.

The Negotiating Committee - which comprises company representatives and the UGT, CGT, UTIL, CCOO, SIPA and ATP-SAE unions - was due to meet again on August 27 at the headquarters of the Interconfederal Mediation and Arbitration Service (SIMA). 

According to a UGT statement, a prior meeting, on August 25, was suspended at the multinational's request so it could analyse the workers' demands.

At the last session, Carmen Maja-Rex - Airbus' global HR director - handed over a document with specific labour commitments. The manufacturer reportedly proposed a general increase based on the real inflation index, plus a 5 per cent purchasing-power recovery supplement for the period between 2026 and 2027. 

In addition, the offer allocates an additional 0.5 per cent to individual salary reviews and another 0.5 per cent to promotions.

In its written statement, the General Union of Workers (UGT) said, "We demand negotiation, not distractions. It is time for responsibility, for negotiating in good faith, and for the company to show that it wants to treat the people who work at Airbus with the dignity we deserve."
