In Spain, the labour ministry is proposing a 5.3 per cent minimum wage rise for 2027, taking the rate to €18,004 a year, or €1,286 per month when paid in 14 instalments, Briefs Finance reports.

The wage increase will impact 2.5 million of the nation’s lowest-paid workers.

The proposal reportedly needs approval from Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez's cabinet before it can proceed. The government has stated that it would detail the 2027 hike before the November 29 election.

Unions have pushed for a 7 per cent rise, but employers objected. The figure now under consideration is 0.4 percentage points above the level suggested by government-appointed experts.
