In Croatia, the government has a tough decision to make as trade unions and employers continue to do battle over the level of a proposed monthly minimum wage increase, The Dubrovnik Times reports.
Employers propose a modest rise of just 3.5 per cent next year, while trade unions seek a more significant hike to €1,250 a month.
The Croatian Employers' Association (HUP) reportedly proposed raising the country's minimum gross monthly salary from the current €1,050 to €1,086.75 in 2027, an increase of just €36.75.
However, trade unions are pushing for a considerably larger increase, arguing that the minimum wage should be €200 more than the current level.
The competing proposals come as the government prepares its economic plans and state budget for 2027. It has yet to announce the official minimum wage for 2027.
