In Canada, a new salary guide has revealed that 55 per cent of Canadian employers are pushing their salary budgets higher to ensure that they secure top talent, Yahoo reports.

Robert Half - a global talent solutions and business consulting firm - has released its 2027 Salary Guide. The guide gives employers and job seekers projected salaries for hundreds of positions across six professional fields, together with compensation trends and hiring insights. The salary ranges shared by the firm reflect base salaries for new hires across all levels of experience.

The 2027 Salary Guide’s key findings reportedly show how competition for talent with specialised skills is shaping compensation strategies, with 55 per cent of managers revealing that they are offering higher-than-planned salaries to attract top talent. 61 per cent cited specialised skills as a primary reason.

63 per cent of respondents reported increasing pay for professionals with relevant AI skills, and 32 per cent offer more for AI-related expertise than for other technical skills.

According to Robert Half, 6 in 10 organisations are increasing their compensation budgets to help attract in-demand talent, despite cost pressures.

With salary transparency becoming an important part of the hiring process, 70 per cent of companies are taking pay transparency steps beyond legal requirements. 49 per cent reported that it has led to higher quality candidate pools.

"The growing demand for AI-related expertise reflects a broader shift toward specialised skills across the workforce," Koula Vasilopoulos - senior managing director, Robert Half, Canada - said.

"Many employers are moving away from broad-based pay increases and adopting more targeted compensation strategies to invest in specialised and hard-to-find skills that support business priorities.

“Our Salary Guide helps employers navigate changing talent trends and make informed compensation decisions, while providing professionals with insight into the skills that can support career growth and higher earning potential."
