In the US, the gym management software provider Wellyx has announced the launch of its payroll management feature for fitness businesses, National Today reports.
Wellyx says its new payroll system centralises the management of salaries, commissions, and leave, providing gyms, studios, and wellness centres with accuracy, transparency, and operational efficiency.
Fitness business payrolls can reportedly be complex, with an ongoing reliance on fragmented systems, which can increase the risk of errors and administrative burden.
According to Wellyx, it has addressed these challenges by consolidating compensation management within a single gym management platform, enabling businesses to maintain fair practices while managing budget predictability.
The new payroll feature allows the creation of department- or category-specific payroll templates, configurable on a weekly, monthly, or custom basis. Wellyx Payroll supports variable and fixed compensation models, tracking staff working hours, applying hourly-based pay, and incorporating block time options.
In addition, it enables commission structures based on services, classes, or product sales, with sliding scale commissions to reward higher performance. The system also reportedly manages paid and unpaid leave for a clearer view of staff availability.
Dominic Stone - CEO of Wellyx - said, “Payroll is one of the most operationally sensitive areas of a fitness business. We have built payroll to give gym owners structure and flexibility without adding complexity. It reflects how fitness teams actually work and helps businesses stay accurate as they grow.”
