[Singapore] MP asks MOM to raise minimum pay for ICT and professional services

Following last week’s announcement of an increase to the minimum qualifying salaries for Employment Pass (EP) holders, labour MP Patrick Tay has advocated for the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) to also consider increasing the minimum pay for the Infocomm Technology (ICT) and professional services sectors. The professional services sector includes accountancy, consultancy and law. In parliament, on August 31, Mr Tay - assistant secretary-general of the National Trades Union Congress - reportedly said that both sectors tend to have a high number of companies appear on the Fair Consideration Framework (FCF) watch list for potentially discriminatory hiring practices.
