[Australia] ‘Zombie agreements’ sunset in one month

On December 7, 2023, in Australia, certain agreements made before 2010 that remain in operation (‘zombie agreements’) will automatically terminate (‘sunset’) unless an application to extend their operation is made to the Fair Work Commission (FWC) before that date, Fair Work Commission reports.

It is important that all employers and employees in the country establish whether this affects them.

If a ‘zombie agreement’ sunsets, the legal minimum pay and conditions for employees previously covered by that agreement are reportedly very likely to change.
