In the UK, newly released data has revealed that payroll timing issues led to Westminster City Council overpaying staff by almost £480,000 over five years, HR Grapevine reports.
The data was obtained via Freedom of Information requests by the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS).
It reportedly showed that, though the council has recovered the majority of the overpayments, around £99,000 remains outstanding.
The council stated that the recovery issue is largely due to employees leaving after payroll deadlines have passed.
A Westminster City Council spokesperson said it "makes a considerable effort to recover any overpayment which is not returned straight away".
