[UK] Confirmation of PIP, ADP and DLA payment boost from April

[UK] Confirmation of PIP, ADP and DLA payment boost from April
13 Jan 2023

UK recipients of Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Disability Living Allowance (DLA) and Adult Disability Payment (ADP, for claimants in Scotland) are set to see their payments increase, Somerset Live reports.

According to Daily Record reporting, the disability benefits hike could see claimants receiving regular payments every four weeks of between £107.60 and £691.

The boost follows Chancellor Jeremy Hunt’s Autumn Statement confirmation that State Pension and benefits will increase by 10.1 per cent, the September Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation rate, this April. Claimants can currently receive between £97.80 and £627.60 every payment period.

This reportedly means a monthly increase of up to £63.40. But claimants have been cautioned to be aware that those figures represent the minimum award possible; a single award for the lower rate mobility only; and the highest awards for both the daily care and mobility components.

The weekly payments for people over state pension age with a health condition or disability will also increase, to either £101.75 for the higher rate or £68.10 for the lower rate, according to Daily Record reporting. There is no mobility component for Attendance Allowance, only daily care, therefore monthly payments will either be £272.40 or £407.

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has published the proposed payment rate changes on GOV.UK. They will come into effect on April 10. The disability payment rate changes for 2023 to 2024 are detailed below.
