In Spain, the Ministry of Labour and Social Economy has launched a public consultation on a draft Royal Decree intended to reinforce pay transparency and equal pay rights in the workplace, DLA Piper reports.
The initiative aims to fully transpose the EU’s Gender Pay Transparency Directive into Spanish law.
It will reportedly tighten employers’ obligations and broaden workers’ rights to information and redress in cases of pay discrimination.
Public input will be open from April 24 to May 8, 2026, before the formal drafting of the Royal Decree. The government is now working against the clock, with a deadline of June 7, 2026, to complete the transposition.
