On May 8, Spanish state prosecutors recommended that an investigating judge throw out a probe into another alleged tax fraud by Colombian singer Shakira, Yahoo reports.
The pop star is being investigated for an alleged €6.7 million evasion of taxes on her 2018 income via an offshore company.
She has reportedly denied any wrongdoing.
State prosecutors who initially brought the case forward now say “there is not sufficient evidence” of a possible fiscal crime.
The investigating judge must determine whether to continue the probe and recommend whether the case should be tried or dismissed.
In November 2023, Shakira struck a deal with prosecutors in a separate case, acknowledging that she had failed to pay the Spanish government €14.5 million in taxes between 2012 and 2014.
The singer currently resides in Miami.
