Despite wages in Slovakia increasing in 2024, new research has revealed that 10 per cent of workers earned less than €970 gross per month, while 25 per cent earned under €1,200 gross, TASR reports.
The analysis by the Platy.sk portal - reported by Alma Career Slovakia - also found that the country’s top 25 per cent of earners made over €2,050 gross, with the highest 10 per cent earning more than €2,900.
According to Platy.sk, significant regional salary differences have persisted in Slovakia. Its median salary reached €1,500 in 2024 with the highest base salaries in Bratislava region, where the median level was €1,870. The lowest salaries were in Presov regions, with a median of 1,275€.
For total salaries, including bonuses and the 13th salary, the median was €2,000 in the Bratislava region, €1,600 in the Trnava and Kosice regions and €1,400 in the Presov region.
The data also showed that the highest earners work in big companies.
"Half of those employed in companies with more than 1,000 employees earn more than €1,777, while the top 10 per cent earn over €3,200 per month. On the other hand, the bottom 10 per cent of employees in the largest companies earn up to €1,070," Platy.sk said.
The median salary for Slovakian workers in small companies with fewer than 10 employees was €1,300 with the lowest-earning 10 per cent making up to €860, while the top 10 per cent earned a base salary of over €2,100 per month.
