[Poland] 7.7% minimum wage hike approved by government

From January 1, 2021, Poland’s monthly minimum wage will be increased from the current PLN 2,600 (EUR 585) to PLN 2,800 (EUR 630), The First News reports.

In a statement, the Government Information Centre (CIR) said the 7.7 per cent rise was contained in a draft regulation adopted by the Cabinet on September 15. According to the statement, in 2021 the minimum hourly rate will increase from PLN 17.00 (EUR 3.83) to PLN 18.30 (EUR 4.12). 

Both figures are reportedly in line with the government's earlier proposals. Increasing the minimum wage to the proposed rate in 2021 will increase state budget spending by PLN 385.8 million (EUR 86.9 million) and the new minimum hourly rate will boost budget expenditures by PLN 2.5 million (EUR 563,000), CIR previously said.
