[US] Rising demand for crypto pay but workplace adoption is slow

In the US, new research has found that a rising share of workers are open to receiving part of their paycheque in crypto, despite the majority of employers not yet offering that option, Crypto News reports.

The survey data, from Oobit, revealed a gap between employee demand and workplace adoption, highlighting a shift in how compensation could evolve.

The study, based on responses from 1,004 full-time employees, showed that 43 per cent of workers are interested in receiving some portion of their pay in digital assets.

Of those who already own digital assets, interest reportedly rises to 57 per cent, suggesting familiarity is central to adoption.

Crypto payroll is still rare. Only 7 per cent of respondents said their employer currently offers a crypto payment option, while 20 per cent said they wish it did.

Nearly one-third of employees, 32 per cent, said they would opt in if their employer introduced crypto payroll tomorrow. The appeal, for many, seems to be flexibility, not a total rejection of traditional pay.

On average, workers who expressed interest said they would want 27 per cent of their paycheque in cryptocurrency, and the rest in US dollars.
