[US] Nike lays off tech workers as part of wider restructuring
22 May 2025

Nike Inc. has laid off employees within its technology division as part of a broader restructuring to realign strategic priorities, Fashion Network reports.

Sources familiar with the matter stated that the job cuts have impacted staff in the company’s strategic enterprise and corporate functions departments, which oversee key business processes.

One source reportedly said Nike is moving some of that work to third-party vendors.

A Nike spokesperson has confirmed the departure of tech workers.

The company’s strategy to reignite growth reportedly includes a renewed focus on sports and wholesale channels. However, progress has stalled in the wake of trade tensions instigated by President Donald Trump and inconsistent consumer spending in the domestic market.

Nike shares have fallen 18 per cent so far in 2025, strikingly underperforming the S&P 500 Index, which has risen 1.4 per cent over the same period.
