In Libya, the Ministry of Finance of the Government of National Unity has attributed the failure to approve the state budget for previous years and the current year as the reason for the delay in disbursing January salaries, Libya Observer reports.
In a statement released on January 13, the ministry said that the delay in disbursing salaries is due to the decision issued by the House of Representatives to form a committee responsible for restructuring the general budget for the fiscal year 2024.
The ministry reportedly reiterated its commitment to complete the disbursement of salaries on time and without any further delay.
The statement noted that the Ministry of Finance pays particular attention to the regular disbursement of salaries and settlement employees' financial circumstances.
