Sources have revealed that IBM plans to cut around 9,000 US jobs in 2026 as part of a broader restructuring initiative. Many of the affected positions are expected to be relocated to India, HR Grapevine reports.

IBM has yet to disclose the extent of the job losses; however, sources cited by The Register and reported by HR Grapevine suggest their impact will affect multiple divisions, including IBM’s Cloud Classic unit.

Nearly a quarter of that unit will reportedly be affected, together with employees in consulting, corporate social responsibility, cloud infrastructure, sales and internal systems teams reporting to IBM’s Chief Information Officer.
