[UK] de Novo Solutions launches AI payroll outsourcing service for education sector
29 Mar 2025

Welsh tech firm de Novo Solutions has announced the launch of its AI-driven Next Generation Shared Services business operation for education administration with a specialised Payroll Outsourcing Service for Multi-Academy Trusts (MATs), News from Wales reports.

Utilising AI and the functionality of Oracle Cloud and ServiceNow platforms, de Novo says the new advanced solution enables it to combine the running of key back-office services on the latest Cloud technology, bringing organisations a fast path to digital transformation through outsourcing.

Its first service, Payroll Outsourcing for the UK Education Sector, will reportedly be ready for launch in Spring 2026. It has been specifically designed for Multi-Academy Trusts’ needs (MATs) using de Novo’s industry cloud solution, Odyssea.

The service is intended to deliver significant cost savings while improving employee experience through digital empowerment.

MATs experience significant challenges in managing payroll, from dealing with a range of employee contracts, navigating evolving regulations and multiple payroll rules, to complexity around teachers’ pension schemes.

de Novo’s new service will remove the need for in-house payroll management, software, and infrastructure. Its design is driven by advances in AI to streamline Shared Services operations.

Mark Sweeny - Founder and Chief Executive of de Novo Solutions - said, “Without doubt this is the largest entrepreneurial move that we have ever undertaken, but with over 20 years of experience in building and managing the systems that underpin such Shared Services Operations, we can build and deliver a valuable solution in a very short space of time.

"Using our own intellectual property for sector industry cloud solutions for Education, Local Government and Central Government, together with the operational infrastructure that we have built over the past 3 years, allows us to control our cost base whilst maintaining superior customer service to really set us apart.

"We can now bring something that the Education sector desperately needs – a fast path for MATs to digital transformation, that will free up investment funds to be redirected to front-line delivery of educational services.”
