[Oman] Expats can obtain 10-year resident cards under amended law

Under a new decision from the Royal Oman Police, certain provisions of the executive regulations of the Sultanate’s Civil Status Law will be amended, Times of Oman reports.

Its decision will see the personal identification card become valid for 10 years, and the residence card valid for a maximum of 10 years, subject to the categories and controls determined by the Director General.

In addition, the decision outlines the fees for issuing, renewing, and replacing cards and certificates.

The fees for the personal identification card are as follows:

  • Issuance and renewal: OMR10 (valid for 10 years)

  • Replacement for lost or damaged card: OMR5 

The fees for the residence card are:

  • Issuance and renewal: OMR5 per year (valid for a maximum of 10 years)

  • Replacement for lost or damaged card: OMR20 

Cardholders will reportedly be required to renew their cards within 30 days of expiration.
