In Malaysia, a significant transformation in expatriate processing for companies in the manufacturing sector and the selected services sector has come into effect, Erickson Immigration Group reports.
On March 16, the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) launched the MIDA Expatriate System (MES): a centralised, fully digital, end‑to‑end platform for approving and endorsing Employment Pass (EP) and Professional Visit Pass (PVP) applications
MES reportedly integrates directly with the Malaysian Immigration System (MYIMMs) and channels applications submitted via Xpats Gateway into MIDA’s InvestMalaysia platform.
It allows expatriate post approval, pass approval, and ePass endorsement to take place under one single system. Application guidelines and FAQs were officially released on March 16, 2026.
