The Indian software services provider Infosys has won a contract worth £1.2 billion from the UK's National Health Service’s (NHS) Business Services Authority to replace its existing payroll platform, Reuters reports.
The 15-year deal is significant for Infosys, India's second-largest IT firm, coming at a time when the $283 billion sector is contending with a weak global economy, trade tensions and shifting US immigration rules.
The company reportedly said it would build a new, data-driven workforce management platform to replace the NHS's existing electronic staff record system, which manages payroll for 1.9 million employees across England and Wales and processes more than £55 billion annually.
