In France, Finance Minister Eric Lombard has indicated that the government is in favour of extending taxes on the wealthy, MSN reports.
Mr Lombard said a proposal by the previous French administration under Prime Minister Michel Barnier for a differential levy on high incomes was “interesting.”
Speaking to Franceinfo radio on March 4, Mr Lombard said, “We wish to make this tax permanent but make sure it’s above all a contribution that fights against what we call fiscal over-optimization.
“People who have significant savings must contribute to tax. It’s what we’re considering.”
However, he reportedly ruled out raising taxes on companies because doing so would impact jobs.
