[Australia] MyGig raises $1m to scale AI payroll and compliance platform

In Australia, MyGig - an Employer of Record for casual workers - has raised $1 million in pre-seed funding to scale its ‘workforce-as-a-service’ (WaaS) platform, SmartCompany reports.

The platform was designed to handle payroll, award compliance and onboarding for businesses employing casual and shift workers.

The round was reportedly led by Artesian (via Hostplus), with participation from Co Ventures, Aussie Angels and a group of industry operators.

Angus Vidor - founder and CEO - said the company’s model evolved directly from employer pain points uncovered while building its first award interpretation product.

Speaking to SmartCompany, Mr Vidor said, “Award interpretation was the starting point because that’s where compliance risk begins. But even when employers had the right information, they still struggled to actually run a casual workforce - sourcing workers, verifying eligibility, managing shifts and time, processing payroll, and paying super correctly.”

He added that MyGig was designed as an AI-native platform from the ground up to automate these processes end-to-end.

“Our difference is that we’re not just AI software or a marketplace. MyGig is the Employer of Record. We recruit and onboard workers, run time and attendance, interpret awards, process payroll daily, pay super daily, and support both businesses and workers,” Mr Vidor said

In addition to the funding round, MyGig has launched what it claims to be the first daily payroll and instant pay product to include superannuation. It reportedly has 70,000 workers pre-onboarded to the platform, with a waitlist of a further 129,000 workers.
