Twitter’s head of trust and safety, Ella Irwin, has resigned. It is the latest high-profile departure from the social media giant since Elon Musk’s takeover, The Guardian reports.
Ms Irwin confirmed her departure to news outlets on May 1 but did not comment further. Fortune had previously reported that Ms Irwin’s internal Slack account appeared to have been deactivated.
Ms Irwin reportedly oversaw content moderation at the company. She is the second head of trust and safety to step down since Mr Musk took over; replacing previous head Yoel Roth in November following his resignation.
A Twitter investor recently revealed that the company’s value had dropped by two-thirds under Musk's leadership.
Last month, Mr Musk announced that he had hired former NBCUniversal advertising chief Linda Yaccarino as Twitter’s new CEO.
The company is also facing increasing scrutiny from regulators over its moderation efforts. Twitter reportedly withdrew from a voluntary agreement with the European Union to tackle disinformation while continuing to claim it was committed to complying with upcoming internet rules in the EU.
Thierry Breton - the EU industry chief - warned the company last week that it would not be able to avoid legal obligations in the EU after quitting the voluntary agreement.
