On June 13 the Punjab cabinet approved a significant increase in the salaries of government employees from grades 1-9 in its budget for the fiscal year 2022-23, The News reports.
The approval was granted in the pre-budget meeting chaired by Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz, which also gave approval for a 5 per cent pension increase, in line with the federal government’s announcement.
The Rs3.226 trillion budget for the fiscal year 2022-23 has reportedly been dubbed ‘Roshan Rahay Naya Sawera’.
In addition to the 30 per cent increase in salaries, a 15 per cent disparity allowance will also be given to the employees of certain departments.
The secretariat and CM House employees will only receive a 15 per cent increase in their salaries.
The provincial government will allocate the portfolio of the finance minister to Sardar Awais Leghari to present the budget.
According to documents seen by Geo News, a proposal has been accepted to allocate Rs900 million for women's development projects, while Rs19.5 billion has been allocated for the local government.
